Though all indications are Cruz’s rehab from a torn patellar tendon is going well, Reese admitted he remains concerned. “When a guy had a big injury like Victor had, you can’t put all your eggs in his basket,” Reese said at the scouting combine in Indianapolis. Cruz wasn’t stunned by the statement. “That’s the way it is,” Cruz said. “I understand what this game is. I understand what this sport is and until that player can be a player for you again, you have to figure out a way to get your team ready to go for Week 1.” Cruz added his rehab is on track. “My knee is feeling better every day,” Cruz said. “I just want to get back out there and get back to 100 percent. I’m very confident I can get back to where I was.” The rehab includes running on a machine that allows him to use only partial body weight.
