The Facts: According to ESPN's Adam Schefter, the Lions have cut Bush.
Diehards Line:
The move isn't a huge surprise as the Lions have been noncommittal about his future since the season ended. Remember, Bush missed five games last year because of a nagging ankle injury and fell behind Bell in the Lions' running back rotation. He rushed for just 297 yards, the second lowest total of his career. Given his contract, the Lions' need to create cap space and a deep class of running backs in this year's draft, it makes sense for the Lions to go young at the position. Bush turns 30 next month, while remaining starter Joique Bell will be 29 in August. Theo Riddick, a sixth-round pick in 2013, has been used sparingly as a rusher in his first two NFL seasons, but will be first man up to serve as change of pace to Bell.
