The Facts: GM Jason Licht said, via Rick Stroud of the Tampa Bay Times, that he will meet with Jackson's agent at the NFL Scouting Combine this week. Asked if Jackson will be on the roster this season, Licht responded, "Absolutely. We really like Vincent Jackson."
Diehards Line:
The two sides will presumably discuss a restructure of Jackson's contract, which carries one of the highest cap numbers of any NFL wide receiver this season, at $12.209 million. As NFL.com's Chris Wesseling notes, it has been widely speculated that Jackson's future with the team is up in the air due to the inflated salary, his availability at last October's trade deadline and a disappointing season while playing through wrist, rib and knee injuries. The Bucs value his leadership, however, and clearly believe he has plenty left in the tank at age 32. And with the likelihood the Bucs will be rolling with a rookie QB this fall, having a reliable veteran on board might be even more critical.
