The Facts: The Browns have a pretty impressive run of five offensive coordinators in as many years. And now they have a sixth candidate, in hopes of a longer run. According to Alex Marvez of FOX Sports, the Browns are hiring Raiders quarterbacks coach John DeFilippo to be their next coordinator.
Diehards Line:
DeFilippo has also had stints with the Jets (where he worked with Browns HC Mike Pettine) and Giants, and was given some degree of credit for the play of rookie quarterback Derek Carr this year. The Browns interviewed a load of candidates with a variety of backgrounds, but settled on another young up-and-comer who had some success with a young, up-and-coming QB. In case you missed it, the Browns would like to believe Johnny Manziel can be that at some point in the near future.
