The Facts: Bush had four carries for 10 yards in the first half of Sunday's 24-23 win against the New Orleans Saints. He had four catches for 11 yards. But he would touch the ball only one more time the rest of the way, and played sparingly during the second-half comeback. HC Jim Caldwell made it clear after the game, though, that the struggling tailback was not benched for his performance. "No, absolutely not," Caldwell said. Rather, Bush is dealing with another ankle injury.
Diehards Line:
He was seen on the sideline testing out the right ankle during the second half of the game. He did eventually return, though Detroit (5-2) preferred to use Joique Bell in the backfield for most of the second half. "Reggie, I think you saw him a few times, he was still kind of nursing his injury just a little bit," Caldwell said. "It bothered him a little bit, but he gutted it out and kept working through it. And then there at the end, Joique, it was just a package more than anything else. ..." Other than Bush, the Lions emerged from this one relatively healthy. The only other injury of note occurred to tight end Brandon Pettigrew, who had his right ankle/foot heavily wrapped in the second half. He finished the game anyway. ... Stay tuned. We'll be following up on Bush's progress in coming days.
