The Facts: Manziel took a break from organized team activities and bizarre fake lawsuits to party it up in Las Vegas over the Memorial Day weekend. It was the kind of holiday weekend one might expect from Johnny Football, complete with celebrity pals, ringside seats, bikini-clad women and a few adult beverages. Manziel -- who mostly worked with the third-team offense behind Brian Hoyer and Tyler Thigpen in organized team activities last week -- had ringside seats Saturday night at the UFC 173 fights at the MGM Grand. He hung out with Patriots TE Rob Gronkowski at a pool party, partied with D.J. Diplo at the Encore Beach Club at The Wynn and sprayed champagne around a nightclub as captured by a video on TMZ Sports.
Diehards Line:
As Plain Dealer staffer Mary Kay Cabot notes, Manziel's weekend was chronicled on Twitter and Instagram, including a tweet from Manziel himself thanking UFC President Dana White for a great night at the fights. It's probably not the kind of attention the team wanted, but Cabot reminded readers the Browns knew what came with the territory when they drafted Manziel, and haven't shied away from the Johnny Football persona. "He's almost like the Ty Cobb, Babe Ruth throwback -- he's a guy's guy," GM Ray Farmer said on Wednesday. "When you see him he's having fun, he's partying, he's doing his thing. I think people are attracted to the fact that not only does he make plays and is a really good athlete. ... He's a really good player, but he lives life." But Farmer also cautioned that Manziel will have to know his limits. We'll obviously all be seeing how that works out over time. Meanwhile, Manziel will be on the field Tuesday for another week of organized team activities.
