The Facts: Johnson attended but did not take part in the Lions’ three-day minicamp last week as he recovers from surgery on his right knee and a finger on his left hand. But he moved very well as he darted around the field while working as an instructor for his foundation’s “Winning Attitude” camp for about 100 prep players at a local high school. “It feels good,” he said of the knee. “It’s definitely coming around. We’ve got all this time right now to get it strong, take our time. There’s no need to rush back.”
Diehards Line:
The Lions begin their organized team activities May 20. Johnson said he had no timetable for on-field debut this offseason. The surgery was performed the first week of January. The knee injury sidelined Megatron for two games in 2013; the finger had been an issue the last two seasons. With the necessary repairs being made early, Johnson should be fully recovered in plenty of time for training camp. Anything additional would just be gravy for Johnson and fantasy football owners too.
