The Facts: With the eighth pick in the 2012 NFL Draft, the Dolphins select Texas A&M's Tannehill.
Diehards Line:Apparently, the Dolphins actually did talk about taking Tannehill at No. 8. ... According to his NFL.com scouting report, Tannehill is a dynamic athlete at quarterback, which could stem from his two-plus years at receiver with the Aggies before becoming their starting signal-caller. In his early starts at QB, Tannehill was more of a gunslinger than a refined thrower, but he now has morphed into an efficient pocket passer. The biggest concern, of course, is the fact that Tannehill has only displayed for one year that he has the arm and decision-making at QB to start in the NFL. Fortunately, he'll be working with an OC in Mike Sherman, who just happened to be his college HC. Worth noting: The presence of Matt Moore and David Garrard could give Tannehill some time to develop. ... Also, for the record: Tannehill is the first QB Miami has taken in the first round since Dan Marino in 1983.
