The Facts: Best said he's no longer having post-concussion symptoms and left little doubt about his intention to play next year. "I'll definitely be back," Best said.
Diehards Line:Best missed the final 10 regular-season games and Saturday's playoff loss to the Saints after suffering a concussion Oct. 16 against the 49ers. He also suffered a concussion in the preseason and had a history of concussion problems in college. Best, who went on injured reserve Nov. 28, told Free Press staffer Dave Birkett he's "not concerned at all" about recurring concussion problems. "Other people probably are, but I'm not," he said. The Lions struggled to run the ball this year, after losing both Best and rookie Mikel Leshoure (torn Achilles tendon) to injuries. They finished 29th in the NFL in rushing (95.2 yards per game) as Best led the team with 84 carries for 390 yards. Best said he's working out on a regular basis and will go through his normal off-season routine in California.
