The Facts: Lewis, who was released by Cleveland in February, visited with the Saints this week, according to team officials. It does not appear the New Orleans Saints have made any formal offer to him.
Diehards Line:Lewis, who told reporters last year that he planned to retire, is apparently having second thoughts. This visit makes him the second back the Saints have met with since Mike Bell was offered a contract by the Eagles. Former Raider Justin Fargas also visited with the Saints. Bell has since signed with the Eagles and HC Sean Payton indicated last week that the Saints might employ some combination of the draft and free agency to replace his carries. At present, the Saints have Pierre Thomas and Reggie Bush as their featured backs, with Lynell Hamilton behind them on the depth chart.
