The Facts: The Lions announced today that they have re-signed Hanson to a four-year deal. Hanson was set to become an unrestricted free agent on February 27. Additional contract terms were not disclosed.
Diehards Line:Hanson signs a multi-year deal with the Lions to extend his 17-year career with the organization. As the longest-tenured player on the roster, the veteran kicker holds franchise records in points (1,747), field goals (406), extra points (529) and games played (271), and has handled both field goals and kickoffs in each of his 17 seasons. He comes off a strgon 2008 season as he lead the league with eight 50-plus yard field goals to become the first player in NFL history to go eight-for-eight from 50 yards or longer in a single season.
