The Facts: Toomer said today that not only does he not expect to be back with the Giants next season, but he’s not sure he’d even come back if they made him an offer. “I just think the last couple of games I wasn’t really a part of the offense,” he said. “We lost a big percentage of those games. You can’t tell me I didn’t play a big role in that. I definitely think that in the current situation I don’t think I could go back.”
Diehards Line:As Daily News staffer Ralph Vacchiano suggests, the veteran's unhappiness might be irrelevant because Toomer doesn’t appear to be in the Giants’ plans. Toomer said his agent has had some conversations with the team, but he knew for a while that he’d probably be elsewhere next year. It became obvious that the Giants coaches had “an agenda,” he said, when his playing time was cut even after Plaxico Burress was suspended. “I think towards the end of the season it became very apparent,” Toomer said. “They wanted to see what the younger guys could do. ..." Remember: The Giants lost four of their last five games -- all after Burress’ suspension started.
