The Facts:
Favre underwent an MRI today which revealed a torn biceps tendon and some calcification in the area but he would need only arthroscopic surgery to repair the injury, according to a report by ESPN.com. The report said Favre could avoid arthroscopic surgery if he decides to play next season.

In the wake of this report, Profootballtalk.com's Mike Florio suggested this issue ultimately will be resolved based on whether Favre can play without surgery of any kind. Indeed, Favre could have a difficult time recovering from any surgery because of his past addiction to painkillers. ... Back to the matter at hand. The most worrisome news included in Star-Ledger staffer's Dave Hutchinson's report cited above, is this: "Favre is expected to take several weeks to decide whether he'll return next season. ..."
