Steve Wyche of the NFL Network reported that the Bears place a called to free-agent receiver Amani Toomer. While the Bears haven't ruled out pursuing a veteran receiver, Toomer might not be their target. According to a source, the Bears did not place the call to Toomer.

According to Tribune staffer Vaughn McCluare, the Bears might be intrigued by Toomer, but they're not jumping at the opportunity. Toomer, who turns 35 in September, spent 13 seasons with the Giants, catching 668 passes for 9,497 yards and 54 touchdowns.
