The Facts:
Walker had knee surgery last month and told the team about it just a few days ago, HC Tom Cable said.

Cable admitted it's "uncommon" for players to undergo surgery like this without informing the team until weeks later. He did not elaborate very much, only saying it was probably the right thing to do (have the surgery, not necessarily the secret). Cable told reporters that Walker's ankle is fine. He had season-ending ankle surgery midway through last season. Now we'll have to see what the timetable is for the knee. Walker was not practicing at today's mandatory mini-camp workout.
