The Facts:
An Eagles source said that Westbrook might require off-season knee surgery. "I think they're running medical tests to determine the source of the irritation," the source said. "If he does need surgery, it's only going to be minor and he may not need it at all. We know he will rest and work hard in the off-season and we're optimistic he'll come back healthy."

Fantasy Football Diehards Line:
As Inquirer staffer Bob Brookover suggested, even the possibility of knee surgery for Westbrook is a significant off-season issue for the Eagles. Westbrook will turn 30 by the time the Eagles play their next meaningful game. The knee in question contributed to him having career lows in rushing average (4.0) and receiving average (7.4). The question is, even with successful surgery, the Eagles must decide if he can regain the form last demonstrated in 2007, when he led the league in yards from scrimmage and averaged nearly 25 touches a game. While we're reluctant to question Westbrook's toughness, the well will eventually run dray and the questions are valid.
