According to SI.com and NBC reporter Peter King, GM Mike Tannebaum and Favre had their first conversation regarding the veteran QB's future with the club in recent days and King believes the Jets are willing to give Favre "months rather than weeks" to make a decision on a possible return for the 2009 season.

Uh-oh. That's not what we wanted to hear. It's also not what the general consensus has suggested in recent days. In case you've missed it, there have been theories floated about Favre securing his outright release from the Jets in February before re-emerging later this summer with a team more to his liking (as in the Vikings or Bears). ... Bottom line? Our fervent hopes that FavreWatch 2009 would be short and/or sweet are suddenly fading.
