Darren Sproles Ready To Test Market
(1/31 7:45 PT)

The Facts:
The other Chargers running back whose 2009 destination is up in the air reiterated Friday he wanted to remain in San Diego but will explore the free-agent market. “I'm going to test it,” Darren Sproles said. “It makes sense. But I like where I'm at. I want to stay a Charger.” Reported by the San Diego Union-Tribune

Fantasy Football Diehards Line:
As Union-Tribune staffer Kevin Acee notes, the expectation was always that Sproles would test the free agent market to see what other teams might offer. Free agency begins Feb. 27. Acee added the Chargers plan to make a contract offer to Sproles that would reflect him being a returner and specialty back. Their plan would be to use him in a role that expanded on what he did last season, when he set career highs with 61 carries for 330 yards and 29 receptions for 342 yards and five touchdowns.
