NFL commissioner Roger Goodell will likely move on Favre's reinstatement by Monday, in effect creating a Tuesday deadline to complete a Packers marketing deal for the three-time MVP, league and team sources told ESPN's Wendi Nix on Saturday. The sources said Goodell feels the situation has gone on long enough and wants both sides to have an incentive to make a decision.

Once Goodell confirms Favre's reinstatement, the Packers would have 24 hours to respond. The potential agreement, worth a reported $25 million over 10 years, might end Favre's bid to return just months after retiring. It also would likely keep him from reporting to Packers training camp and a team that is not planning to start him at quarterback for the first time since 1992. ...
