A league source has forwarded to us an e-mail message that has been issued by the league office to the 32 NFL teams on Sunday. Here’s the full text: "This is to inform you that our office will announce today that Commissioner Goodell will reinstate Brett Favre to the Green Bay Packers’ active roster, effective at noon on Monday, August 4."

That falls into line with what ESPN's Wendy Nix has reported from Green Bay this morning. ... According to the Sports Ticker, Favre does not plan to attend the team’s intrasquad scrimmage Sunday night at Lambeau Field. The Packers will have 24 hours upon reinstatement to put Favre on their 80-man roster, trade him or release him. Some observers, including ESPN's Ed Werder (who broke the latest development this morning) and NFL Network insider Adam Schefter, have suggested this could be another step in reaching agreement on the much-discussed $20-25 million marketing deal that would keep Favre from returning. It might be worth noting that agent James "Bus" Cook will be making the trip with Favre. ... Stay tuned. There will be more.
