The Facts:
The agent for Grant has been aiming for a six-year, $40 million contract, a proposal the Packers find far too rich for a running back with Grant's limited resume. It is unknown what the Packers have offered Grant over six years, but sources said Grant's proposal includes $8.5 million in the first two years compared with the Packers' offer of about $4.5 million.

During HC Mike McCarthy's first two seasons, the Packers had all of their veterans signed in time for the first day of camp, making for harmonious summers. The Packers have been without Grant's services for a week now and there is no end in sight. Meanwhile, the Packers are practicing with Brandon Jackson and four other running backs. "We've got to see somebody do it for 16 games," offensive coordinator Joe Philbin said. "We haven't seen that out of Ryan Grant yet. You can say that about both guys." If the Packers go considerably longer without Grant, their concerns will increase over the threat of injury for Grant if he signs. ... Stay tuned.
