In response to Sam Farmer's recent report for the Los Angeles Times that agent Bus Cook is quietly talking to other teams about a possible trade for Favre, a league source tells us that Cook definitely had been doing this. ... For the record, Cook has said that the reports of such discussions are "absolutely false." Also for the record, Favre says that he's not coming back.

Despite the agent's denials, Farmer told NFL Network "Total Access" viewers that Cook was indeed his source. PFT editor Mike Florio notes that Cook's motives remain unclear. But Cook, who was quick to tell reporters that his client felt unwanted by the Packers when Favre announced his retirement, obviously stands to gain if the QB has a change of heart. So, Cook might have been acting on his own. In fact, he might have simply been performing due diligence. ... Whatever the case, Green Bay Press-Democrat staffer Tom Pelissero believes the rumors will continue at least until Favre files his retirement papers -- something that he has no pressing need to do.
