Fantasy Football Diehards Line:
Favre, 38, has yet to give written notice of his retirement to the league or the players' union, although that's neither required nor irrevocable. It's also not uncommon for players to delay in doing so, particularly if they are not in immediate need of their pension money. ESPN insider Chris Mortensen is heavily downplaying the Times report and Favre's agent, James "Bus" Cook told Times staffer Sam Farmer he was not aware of Favre's interest in resuming his career. "That's news to me," Cook told Farmer. "I don't think that has anything to do with anything. He's retired, period, point blank. ..." We would suggest taking Cook at his word. We are -- although we'll continue to keep an eye out for more on this.
