Danny Woodhead and BenJarvus Green-Ellis filled the void nicely last year when others got hurt, but neither look like long term answers, especially if Kevin Faulk decides to retire. The Patriots need a legitimate workhorse who can get the tough yards on every down. Right now, they have a group of specialty backs who lack overall versatility. According to his
NFL.com scouting report, Vereen emerged from Jahvid Best's shadow to have breakout season in 2010 and he could be an effective weapon as Faulk's replacement. Vereen lacks the size and speed to be an every down back, but he is terrific pass catcher out of the back field that will keep the chains moving.
