With Ricky Williams, Ronnie Brown and Patrick Cobbs all unrestricted free agents, the Dolphins are on the prowl for help in the backfield. Dolphins GM Jeff Ireland listed "instincts, quickness, low center of gravity and toughness" as the primary traits he and his scouting staff look for at the position. Although Thomas runs a bit high, he fits the rest. According to his
NFL.com scouting report, Thomas has the combination of size, strength, burst and vision necessary to become a solid NFL starting back. A lot of his production comes in-between the tackles, picking his lanes, bursting through the hole, staying behind his pads and finishing runs by falling forward for additional yardage. Good in short yardage and goal line situations. Look for an immediate contribution.
