Nine days ago, OC Jeremy Bates was applauded for his gameplan that helped defeat the Saints. Now he’s looking for a job. Michael Lombardi of NFL Network reports that surprising news that Bates has been fired after only one year as offensive coordinator with the Seahawks.

Worth noting, QBs coach Jedd Fisch also accepted a job at the University of Miami last week, perhaps knowing a shakeup was going to happen with the Seahawks. ... Bates, who turned down a chance to take the Bears job last year, has also worked under Mike Shanahan in Denver. He worked under Carroll for a year at USC. ... But the Seahawks ranked near the bottom of most offensive categories in 2010 and a makeover has begun.
