HC Pete Carroll today called re-signing Hasselbeck a “top priority” and said that his first offseason meeting was with Hasselbeck and G.M. John Schneider to go over their future.

He says he expects Hasselbeck to be the team’s starting quarterback next year. “I don’t think there’s any other way to look at it right now,” Carroll said. Hasselbeck, who threw for 3,001 yards with 12 touchdowns and 17 interceptions, has indicated his desire to remain with the team. Hasselbeck said the fact that Seattle won the NFC West and made some noise in the playoffs adds to his desire of wanting to stay with the Seahawks, particularly after going through two losing seasons before winning the NFC West title for the first time in three years. "All the hard work has been done this year," Hasselbeck said. "Going through all of the change, going through all of the drama at times and just going through all of the adversity. So it would be so much fun to be a part of the rest of it. ..." Sounds like he'll get that chance.
