David Cornwell, the lawyer for Benson, confirmed via text Thursday evening they met with NFL commissioner Roger Goodell in New York City about the assault charge in Austin, Texas. Cornwell is not sure if Goodell will make a call before the season or wait to see if the case is resolved in court. Reported by Bengals.com

Hobson reminded readers that Benson also has an advocate in HC Marvin Lewis, who said earlier this week that Benson was "jumped" and "sucker-punched. ..." Stay tuned.
