The Facts:
The Carolina Panthers are hopeful Smith will be back for final preseason game according to Jason La Canfora of NFL.com. He's making good strides in recovery from a broken arm suffered while playing flag football in June.

Smith broke the same arm that he broke at the end of last season but in a different spot. The Panthers had hoped to get Smith back midway through preseason. Although Smith is an experienced veteran who most likely won't have any difficulty making sure he's properly conditioned at the appropriate time, the more work he can get in with QB Matt Moore, whose on-field experience is limited, the better. ... Stay tuned. We'll be following Smith's progress closely throughout the summer.
