today's big story. ... After Favre's comments to ESPN's Ed Werder were interpreted by many as a sign that his injured ankle could keep him from playing in 2010, Favre took to his personal web site on Friday to say that in reality, the ankle surgery he may undergo this offseason wouldn't be a big deal.

"I want to add to the information provided in the article that was published this morning on ESPN's website," Favre wrote on
OfficialBrettFavre.com. "Given the reaction to the article, and the typical conclusion jumping, I thought I'd clarify a few things. ... While my ankle has been bothering me, the injury is not debilitating. ..." Favre continued that if he does have ankle surgery, it will be a minor operation. Favre also stressed "the possibility of surgery was the sole factor that would determine whether I return or not. ..." So as PFT's Michael David Smith summed up: "Favre hasn't made up his mind about whether he'll play football in 2010, and he's not sure when he will make up his mind, but whatever he decides won't be determined solely by whether his ankle can withstand another NFL season.
