Cowboys, Marion Barber Still A Ways Apart
(4/22 9:46 PT)

The Facts:
You had to do a little reading between the lines, but Jerry Jones gave a pretty clear indication that the Cowboys and Barber will not be striking a deal this week. In fact, he pretty much said that much. He added, too, that the stage those talks are at will not affect the team's approach to Saturday's draft. "It's just that, first of all, nothing is going to happen between today and the draft anyway," Jones said. "I'm going to assume, just as we have both in the long term and the short term, that we'll get something worked out with Marion." Reported by the Dallas Morning News

Fantasy Football Diehards Line:
That said, the owner made sure to note that he'd be fine without getting a high-round back, and having to put a heavier load on Barber. ... In case you missed it, Barber is looking for a deal worth $8 million annually (the Cowboys have reportedly offered $30 million over five years) -- a considerable sum for a player who has never served as the team's primary rushing weapon.
