Giants Have New Deal With PK Lawrence Tynes
(2/29 12:14 PT)

The Facts:
The Giants haven't officially announced the signing of Tynes, but it's on the books. The contract includes a $1.25-million signing bonus.  Reported by the Newark Star-Ledger

Fantasy Football Diehards Line:
According to Star-Ledger staffer Mike Garafolo, the deal runs through 2012. So, does the new contract mean Tynes is definitely the kicker next season? Per Garafolo, yes -- and no. Tynes' cap number for this upcoming season is $995,000. If they cut him, it'll cost them just the signing bonus of $1.25 million. That means the difference between cutting and keeping him is $255K. ... All that said, Tynes will be New York's kicker next year unless he totally bombs or gets hurt. In that case, it would be a cut that wouldn't cost the Giants very much against the cap.
