The Facts:
Washington and the Patriots have agreed to terms on an undisclosed contract tonight, according to a league source. Agreeing on a new deal was a top priority for Washington, who enjoyed his first season with the Patriots after spending the first four years of his career with the Bengals.

As Globe staffer Mike Reiss notes, Washington didn't see much playing time on offense -- he played in only 37 snaps all season -- but was a consistent presence on special teams. HC Bill Belichick often said that Washington could be counted on at receiver if called upon, but Washington seemed to be a victim of the team's depth at that spot. Based on possible changes at receiver in 2008, Reiss believes we could see more opportunities for Washington.
