According to ESPN insider John Clayton, the Saints have contacted the Giants about a possible trade for Shockey.

It might be worth noting that Saints HC Sean Payton was OC in New York during Shockey's rookie season of 2002. ... Shockey suffered a broken leg in December and the fact that Eli Manning seemed to play much better in Shockey's absence (and the emergence of rookie Kevin Boss as a productive replacement) fueled speculation about the star tight end's future in New York. Still, Giants GM Jerry Reese has made it clear (see
previous item) that Shockey won't be traded.
