Following up on one of the bigger stories this week. ... As of the wee hours this morning, Moss was not an ex-Patriot, but he also didn't have a long-term contract to keep him in New England. When reached after midnight, Moss's agent, Tim DiPiero, said he had no comment on negotiations and wouldn't answer a question as to whether Moss, now officially a free agent, had the parameters of a deal to stay with the Patriots, who elected not to place the franchise tag on the record-setting receiver.

As Profootballtalk.com's Mike Florio suggested this morning, it's reasonable to conclude that something is up on this one. It certainly looks like Moss is interested in seeing what others might be offering before making a commitment with the Pats. And as Florio further suggests, if that number in another town is big enough, he might opt to take the money and run. ... If nothing else, Moss is keeping it interesting.
