Ryan Grant Ready To Explore Free Agent Market
(3/6 9:6 PT)

The Facts:
Following up on a previous item. ... The Packers have told Grant that they are interested in bringing him back, but they aren't expected to make an offer before free agency starts and Grant will explore other options starting March 13. Reported by the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel

Fantasy Football Diehards Line:
Grant's agent, Alan Herman, said he has gotten word from the Packers that they value the 29-year-old veteran and want him back on their roster. "He will hit free agency," Herman said Tuesday. "But they gave us an indication they would like to have him back." Herman added that Grant will go into free agency with an eye for the best fit, and undoubtedly money will play some part in it. ... Grant finished 2011 with 134 carries for 559 yards and two touchdowns and 19 receptions for 268 yards and a touchdown. He finished second in rushing on the Packers behind James Starks. Grant was the named starter in all 15 games in which he took part, but it wasn't until late in the season that he had an impact, carrying 50 times for 276 yards and four touchdowns in his final five games. But with Starks, Brandon Saine and (assuming he recovers from a serious knee injury) Alex Green all on board to provide younger (and cheaper) options, Grant's time with the Pack may be coming to an end. Stay tuned.
