The Facts:
Once all the bids come in and the recruiting pitches are made, the Broncos probably
don't have much chance of landing free-agent Peyton Manning, With or without Manning, the Broncos will be signing a veteran QB in the days after the free-agent market opens Tuesday.

Fantasy Football Diehards Line:
If their flirtation with Manning is any indication, the Broncos will not be looking for a career backup type like Shaun Hill, Josh McCown or Chris Redman. The Broncos will be signing a free agent who can legitimately challenge Tim Tebow for the starting quarterback position. Even if Tebow will be the starter entering training camp, the Broncos want a quarterback who has proved he can start or has the potential to start. As Post staffer Mike Klis suggested, in Chad Henne, most recently with the Dolphins, and their own Brady Quinn, the Broncos could go with dropback QBs who have started. In free agents Josh Johnson and Dennis Dixon, the Broncos could take a quarterback similar to Tebow in athletic style. "I think when I look at Tim and I look at our offense, we can do it with either one," John Elway, the Broncos' head of football operations, said regarding a QB's style. "Whether it be a guy like Tim, or if it's more of a drop-back-type guy, we feel like either one is going to be able to fit."
