Fitzpatrick is emerging as the full-fledged leader of the offense. Somewhat entrenched as the starter following an encouraging season and the Bills not drafting a quarterback, the former Harvard standout has been leading the AFC East franchise's informal workouts. Fitzpatrick has organized and directed sessions from Buffalo to his home in Arizona. “That’s why I play QB," Fitzpatrick said. "I love being the guy that everybody looks up to. The starting quarterback is the guy who is looked at as the natural leader. I think these offseason workouts allow me to continue to grow into that role.’’

Last season, Fitzpatrick passed for 3,000 yards and 23 touchdowns despite not beginning the season as the starter before Trent Edwards was jettisoned. Now, the Bills are putting their faith behind Fitzpatrick, who has earned the confidence of teammates. “When things get going rough, even the leaders look to Fitz," LB Reggie Torbor said. "That’s the way he is now and I think he’s accepted that role, embraced it. And we believe in him. ..." Given the numbers he's capable of, Fantasy Football owners looking for a capable QB2 late in their drafts could do worse.
