Roy Williams Could Remain With Cowboys This Season
(5/20 1:13 PT)

The Facts:
In a development that will come as a surprise to many, staff writers at the team's official web site believe it is unlikely the Cowboys will release Williams this year. Reported by the Redzone.org

Fantasy Football Diehards Line:
As the Redzone.org explained, Williams would be a prime candidate for release if the rules this season remain the same as 2010. There was no salary cap last year and Williams has already been paid all the guaranteed money in his six-year contract. It is a completely different story if a new collective bargaining agreement is ratified and the salary cap is re-instituted. With the salary cap the Cowboys would be on the hook for a monstrous $12.9 against the cap if the team releases Williams. Jerry Jones was willing to take a big hit to get Terrell Owens out of town but Williams is not a problem player. Think about it: if it's your money, it's better to get some production from a player, even if it's modest production, than simply not having him on the roster.
