Carroll: Charlie Whitehurst Will Compete For Starting Job
(4/28 11:44 PT)

The Facts:
Seattle’s QB situation could be handled in a dizzying amount of ways. When you break it down, they figure to do two of the following three things this offseason: Add a draft pick in the first two rounds, re-sign Matt Hasselbeck, or bring in another veteran QB. Pete Carroll indicated Tuesday that Whitehurst will get a fair chance to stick. Reported by Profootballtalk.com

Fantasy Football Diehards Line:
“Charlie Whitehurst is going to throw his hat in the ring and try to be the starting quarterback here,” Carroll said told Liz Matthews of mynorthwest.com. ... While that sounds like a reasonable enough approach, PFT notes that Whitehurst’s salary ($4 million) and disappointing 2010 campaign seemingly put Whitehurst in danger of being dumpted even before 2011 even starts. Now it appears he'll at least get a shot in training camp (assuming there is one). That doesn't, however, mean he's a lock to make the final roster.
