Schefter also notes a memo to NFL clubs going out now on how to operate in the interim. It remains to be seen how Judge Susan Richard Nelson, who denied the NFL's request for a stay last night, will react. Schefter suggested last night that the league seemed to believe they would have until at least Friday and perhaps Monday to get the new league year started, despite the fact Judge Nelson ordered them to begin immediately. The NFL has filed an appeal and requested a stay from the 8th Circuit court. It would appear their request will be heard quickly. ... Meanwhile, the players sent letter to owners demanding NFL to start year -- or it will ask for contempt of court. ... Stay tuned.
