NFL, Players Hold Conference Call With Judge
(4/8 10:4 PT)

The Facts:
Following up on the ongoing story. ... Representatives from the NFL, NFL Players Association and Minnesota Judge Susan Richard Nelson conducted a conference call today regarding potential mediation discussions, as suggested by the federal judge. Reported by The National Football Post

Fantasy Football Diehards Line:
The call lasted over an hour and NFL Network insider Albert Breer reports that Judge Nelson ordered the substance of talks be kept in strict confidence. ... In case you missed it, the decertified players' union issued a statement Thursday that it's amenable to having mediation in federal court. The owners want to return mediation to Washington, D.C. in front of George S. Cohen again. The players are extremely opposed to doing so, though. It was in D.C. where negotiations broke down and the players decertified before filing an antitrust lawsuit in federal court. Nelson said it will take her a few weeks to issue a decision on the players' request for a preliminary injunction to halt the lockout. Meanwhile, Nelson has urged both sides to get back to the bargaining table. Today's conference call was another step in that direction. Stay tuned.
