Gap Between NFL, NFLPA Still Huge... But Shrinking

The Facts:
Though the NFL and the NFLPA still have a long way to go in order to strike a deal (or, best case, an extension to keep working on a possible deal), we’re told that the financial gap between the parties continues to shrink. Per a source with knowledge of the situation, the gap currently is under $700 million per year. And there’s still plenty of room to move. Reported by Profootballtalk.com

Fantasy Football Diehards Line:
The talks began with the NFL wanting an extra $1 billion off the top before application of the formula that pays the players 59.6 cents of every dollar generated. While there’s still a long way to go, and obviously a short time to get there, more than 30 percent of the mountain has been chipped away. ... Meanwhile, Mike Freeman of CBSSports.com reports that “some NFL owners” that want to completely open their books to the union. Other owners disagree. At this point, the union's desire for more financial information seems to be the biggest sticking point. ... Stay tuned.
