As we enter the final half hour before the promised 2:00 p.m. ET update from NFLPA executive director DeMaurice Smith, there’s a possible reason why there have been no updates. Daniel Kaplan of SportsBusiness Journal reports that, Friday morning, the league made “revised offers on core issues.”

Worth noting: SI.com's Peter King reports that, during a Thursday conference call with owners, Commissioner Roger Goodell received “the freedom to move drastically, if need be,” to get a deal done with the players. ... So the mediation session has continued for more than 3.5 hours this morning. As PFT's Mike Florio suggested, the longer it goes, the better the chance of another extension. And at this point, another extension seems like a best-case scenario. ... Stay tuned.
