Mark Berman of FOX 26 in Houston reports that JaMarcus Russell, the first overall pick in the 2007 draft, will meet with the Redskins.

The move comes during the Redskins' bye week, two days after HC Mike Shanahan yanked starting QB Donovan McNabb during crunch time of a loss to the lowly Lions. The Redskins are the first team to consider Russell since he was cut by the Raiders earlier this year. ... Russell learned last week that he would not be indicted on charges related to possession of codeine. He has been working out in Houston in the hopes of trying to get back to the NFL.
