The Facts:
Following up on the ongoing drama. ... After a bizarre late-afternoon flurry of rumors and reports created the impression that HC Brad Childress went rogue when deciding to cut Moss, it's now clear that, indeed, Moss is out. "This decision was made based on what we thought was in the best interests of the Minnesota Vikings, both in the short and long term," Childress said in a team-issued release. "We wish Randy the best as he moves forward in his career."

So now we've heard the official version, let's look behind the scenes, shall we? According to ESPN's Chris Mortensen, the events of Monday may have been a tipping point for player unrest. Mortensen said on SportsCenter Monday evening that Childress has "lost the locker room." Mort explained: "The players are not Childress guys right now. There's a sense there, 'does this head coach really know what he's doing?' That's the truth. You talk to people in that locker room, that's what you you're gonna get from them. ..." Indeed, the speed at which Vikings players leaked the news to various outlets today lends further credence to Mortensen's report. So do independent reports suggesting that owner Zygi Wilf isn't happy about the move and would like Moss to return. But FOXSports' Jay Glazer reports that Moss wouldn't return at this point, even if asked.
