The Facts:
For the second time in his four season, Davis has been placed on injured reserve after the eighth game of the season. The team also made official that it waived linebacker Shawne Merriman.

As Union-Tribune staffer Kevin Acee notes, Davis was having his best season, which is not saying a lot, all things considered. But he did have 21 receptions for 259 yards in seven games. He missed this past Sunday's victory over the Titans with a groin injury. Davis showed flashes of why the Chargers drafted him when he did get on the field. Problem was, he was only active for 28 games, including playoffs. Davis has one season remaining on the contract he signed as the 30th overall pick in 2007.
