Smith was selected by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers with the 71st pick in the 2005 NFL draft. He became a starter as a rookie and caught 41 passes. But as PFT's Michael David Smith notes, in the four seasons since then Smith hasn't matched his rookie reception total. In 2009 the Bucs traded him to the Patriots, and the Patriots released him before the start of the regular season. He then was signed by the Eagles but caught just three passes.
