Smith, a fifth-round pick in 2007, started six games as a rookie and three in 2008. Last year, injuries limited him to only four games keeping him from proving his worth as as possible change-of-pace to the smaller Jammal Charles. It remains to be seen whether Smith can move past his injury issues to emerge in a secondary role. ... Gutierrez arrived via waivers from the Patriots in 2008. His chances of climbing up the depth chart are remote.
