Jags Hire Tucker As New DC
(1/24 11:13 PT)

The Facts:
Mel Tucker, who was the Browns' defensive coordinator last season, signed Thursday night with the Jaguars as their new defensive coordinator, according to the Cleveland Plain Dealer. Tucker, 37, becomes the team's third defensive coordinator in as many seasons. Reported by the Florida Times-Union

Fantasy Football Diehards Line:
HC Jack Del Rio said he's not commenting on his coaching vacancies until he fills all seven positions, so it's uncertain whether Tucker will have the same authority that Gregg Williams had last season or whether Del Rio will call most of the shots himself. There is reason to believe the latter will be the case. As Times-Union staffer Vito Stellino notes, in Tucker, Del Rio didn't bring in a big-name coach noted for his own style of defense. Tucker has only four years of NFL experience and was a coordinator for only one season. In Cleveland last year, Tucker ran Romeo Crennel's 3-4 defense, but Del Rio prefers a 4-3 defense.
